I only use all natural, non-toxic products in my home because I worry about the dangerous effects conventional cleaners can have on my family. These products, including bleach, all purpose cleaning sprays and powders, window cleaner, drain cleaner, and more, can cause serious illnesses like cancer, autoimmune disease, and more. Many people think that all-natural products don’t clean as well, but I’ve been cleaning this way for a few years now, and I’ll never go back! There’s really no need to use dangerous chemicals to clean your home.
“How Can Conventional Products Be So Bad When Almost Everyone Uses Them?”
I admit, some of my family members pick on me for being a hippie because I prefer all-natural products, but I’ll still recommend them as much as I can because the dangers of using regular products is very real. When you use any cleaners, whatever that product is made of doesn’t magically go away when you wipe or rinse – it coats your home, your surfaces, your countertops. When you and your family come in contact with conventional cleaners like Windex, Febreze, Comet, Glade, and more, you’re getting these chemicals on you.
In the short term, these products can cause and aggravate rashes, asthma, allergies, and chemical sensitivities. In the long term, they may cause cancer, ADHD, hormone imbalances, autoimmune diseases, developmental, growth, and behavioral issues, and many more problems in both adults and children. Plus, they’re terrible for the environment and can run off through our drains and into our waterways to contaminate wildlife and our food supply! Since so many people use these products, we being inundated by them!
“What Can I Do?”
It does take some getting used to, but if you commit to using all-natural products in your home, you’ll find out they’re so much better. Now, I can’t stand the smell of conventional products – they actually make me sick. I think I may have been that sick from them all along, but now that I’ve gotten away from them and feel better normally, I can feel their effects on me more than I could before. I switched over to natural products slowly because I didn’t want to feel overwhelmed and also didn’t want to throw away products I had already bought. This can be a great transition method for you because you won’t have to change your habits all at once (which can be difficult), and it won’t hurt your pocketbook so badly if you slowly replace normal products with eco-friendly ones.
“Can I Really Save Money with All-Natural Cleaning?”
You may be wondering how you can save money with all-natural cleaning. Won’t you just have to buy all-natural products, which can be more expensive than conventional? Well, that’s one way to go, but I prefer using a mix of store bought and DIY products to get the best clean I can while saving loads of money. I also like to use E-Cloths, which are all-natural cleaning cloths, mops, and other amazing products that do a great job cleaning and disinfecting your home using only tap water! E-Cloths can be washed and reused again and again, which can definitely save you loads of money.
